Professional Experience

Marissa joined the firm in March 2020 as a law school graduate. Marissa gained significant court experience when she previously worked as a Rule-9 intern in Longview, Washington at a criminal defense firm that focused on indigent clients who were charged with simple and gross misdemeanors. Previously Marissa worked at the Department of Justice Child Advocacy Section.

Professional Activities

An active member of the Oregon State Bar, in law school Marissa trained to be a Title IX Student Advisor to assist students through the Title IX process on the Lewis & Clark campus. She was also involved in the Latinx Law Society and Lewis & Clark Law Review as an editor.

Community Involvement

At UCLA, Marissa worked as a copy editor for the campus newspaper, The Daily Bruin, and was involved in volunteer organizations including Circle K International.

Awards

Marissa was on the Dean’s List multiple semesters at UCLA and received an award for her volunteer service of 150 hours for Circle K International.

Interests

Marissa was born and raised in Riverside, California and moved to Portland with her partner in 2017 to begin law school. She enjoy going out with friends and exploring Portland as well as reading, hiking, indoor cycling, playing board games, and watching Netflix series. Her favorite sports team will always be the Los Angeles Lakers (sorry Portland).
