David joined Stahancyk Kent & Hook as an Associate Attorney in July of 2019. Prior to joining SK&H, David worked in solo practice representing clients in cases involving family law, administrative law, business and contract disputes, and appellate practice. During his solo practice, David enjoyed the rare opportunity to argue a case of first impression before the Supreme Court of Alaska, which set new precedent and standards of review governing dissolution of domestic partnership cases throughout the State of Alaska. David also served as a judicial clerk reviewing social security disability appeals for the United States District Court, District of Oregon, in 2017. David is an advocate by nature, works tirelessly for his clients, and enjoys finding creative solutions to complex legal problems. Predictably, David found his passion for helping clients through turbulent times, advocating their interests, and navigating through complicated legal processes within the unique arena of family law.
David received a Dean’s Scholarship to attend Lewis & Clark Law School, where he graduated cum laude and earned academic certificates of specialization in both Business Law and Environmental Law. During his time at Lewis & Clark, David served on the Editorial Board of Lewis & Clark Law Review as Lead Articles Editor, received an Honors Appellate Brief award, and earned a highly coveted “Best Dad in the Universe” coffee mug from his now eight-year-old son for exhibiting exceptional parenting skills while juggling the rigorous demands of law school. Prior to attending law school, David worked as a real estate broker and mortgage finance professional in Oregon. David was raised in Alaska, where he worked on fishing boats, in lumber mills, and in logging camps after completing high school. David is no stranger to hard work, and his work ethic combines his experience in business, real estate, finance, family, and the law to provide exceptional representation for his family-law clients at Stahancyk Kent & Hook.
