SK&H has compiled a list of wonderful holiday-centric activities for every age group. From the very young who will enjoy sitting on Santa’s lap at the annual Festival of Trees and telling him their wishes to all those older kids-at-heart who will have a jolly old time with Saint Nick and all his friends at the Holiday Ale Fest or NoPdxAnticon and Santa Speedo Run. Have a great weekend!
Holiday Ale Festival
Through Sunday Dec. 4, 2016
Enjoy 50 bold winter ales at Holiday Ale Festival in heated tents with food vendors at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Ages 21+.
Winter Wonderland Drive-Through Light Show
Through Dec. 25, 2016
Billed as the largest holiday light show west of the Mississippi, Winter Wonderland has 250 displays of blinking colorful and “how did they do that” lights at Portland International Raceway (Dec. 6 is for dog walkers only).
Festival of Trees
December 2 – 3, 2016
Along with wandering among dozens of decorated trees at the Festival of Trees you will also be able to whisper your wishes to Santa, enjoy entertainment, frost Christmas cookies, make holiday crafts, patch up a stuffed animal in the Teddy Bear Hospital, and much more. The annual Festival of Trees at Oregon Convention Center will dazzle you with elaborately decorated Christmas trees, mini-trees, wreaths, and holiday displays.
Scandinavian Fair
December 3 – 4, 2016
Celebrate the foods, crafts, music, and traditions of a Scandinavian Christmas at ScanFair! At this annual event you can experience all the sights, sounds, tastes, and traditions of a Nordic Christmas during the holiday season without actually going to Norway. An event reminiscent of Christmas markets in Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo, Reykjavik, and Stockholm, there are vendors, food, entertainment, games, and more at the Exhibit Hall in Memorial Coliseum.
NoPdxAnticon and Portland Santa Speedo Run
December 3, 2016
Take a tour of North Portland bars dressed as Santa or other favorite holiday characters (Buddy The Elf, anyone?) or just run your nearly naked self down the streets of Portland at the annual Portland Santa Speedo Run in, you guessed it, nothing but a speedo. NoPdxAnticon starts at Paul Bunyan Statue on North Denver Avenue. The Portland Speedo Run starts at 11 am at North 45 Pub, 517 Northwest 21st Avenue.
