In the spirit of spring cleaning and giving back to the community, SK&H staff members organized a spring clothing drive over the last two weeks.

Kudos to SK&H staff members Mary Beth Muscarella and Andrew Mannheimer for their incredible work in helping to facilitate this worthwhile drive.

“There are many people in our community who are looking to rejoin the work force,” says Mary Beth. “If we can assist job seekers in being prepared to dress appropriately and feel comfortable in a professional setting, then we are more than happy to contribute to that cause.”

Mary Beth Muscarella organizes clothes collected for the drive.

SK&H collected business attire and accessories to donate to two wonderful local non-profits. The women’s clothing was donated to the Oregon chapter of Dress For Success.  Their mission is “to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support.” Women who have upcoming interviews can visit the local Dress For Success boutique where volunteers will work with them to help them choose an interview outfit, and help provide guidance and support for their upcoming interview.

Mary Beth and Mich Nelson, Volunteer Manager of Dress For Success, put together a great outfit for an interview.

The men’s clothing recipient was Best Foot Forward, a program of Julia West House.  Their mission is to help outfit men who are committed to making a better tomorrow for their family and themselves.  After a job counselor submits a referral, men can make an appointment for a clothes fitting. They then can get the appropriate apparel for an interview (or accepted job) that requires suits or business casual attire.

“Hopefully, our contribution efforts will encourage others to do the same,” says Mary Beth.

Contact Dress for Success or Best Foot Forward if you have professional clothing or accessories you’d like to donate.
