Marie received her JD from the University of Oregon School of Law and a BA in Economics and Environmental Studies from Western Washington University.
Before joining Stahancyk, Kent & Hook, Marie worked in a variety of legal areas. She devoted over 320 Pro Bono hours to the Washington State Attorney General’s Office assisting with juvenile dependency and administrative law matters. She also spent several months working on complex personal injury litigation for a small Seattle-based firm.
While in law school, Marie advised business owners on entity formation with Oregon Law’s Small Business Clinic, worked on local government issues with the City Attorney in Springfield, Oregon, and planned the annual Green Business Symposium as Co-Director of the Green Business Initiative Student Association. Marie also worked as research assistant, helping complete numerous articles and a book on family and child law topics.
Marie is an active member of the Oregon State Bar Association, the Multnomah Bar Association, and Oregon Women Lawyers. She also participates in the Oregon New Lawyer Division, the Young Lawyer Division of the Multnomah Bar, and attends the First Generation Professionals events through Oregon Women Lawyers.
She enjoys serving her community and has a long track record of public service. She has volunteered with the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership, the American Cancer Society’s “Relay For Life,” the Washington State Attorney General’s Office, and numerous other organizations. Marie also devoted a year to public service as an AmeriCorps VISTA member in Montana.
