It’s a great SKH Weekend to be dazzled by the incredibly cool Winter Light Festival happening near OMSI or delighted at the Portland Seafood and Wine Festival at the Oregon Convention Center. Or would your rather get out there and be miserable? The Worst Day of the Year Run is happening at McMenamin’s Edgefield. Truth is, it’s a lot of fun—and there’s lunch at the finish line!

 


Portland Winter Light Festival

Inspired by light festivals around the globe, the Portland Winter Light Festival, a Willamette Light Brigade event, aims to counteract the city’s tendency to hibernate during the winter. The festival brightens up the winter skyline and brings warmth to the outdoors with dazzling displays of light, color, and imagination. See dozens of illuminated artworks plus performance artists on the waterfront outside OMSI during Portland Winter Light Festival. Come wearing lights! Free.

Portland Seafood & Wine Festival

Fri.-Sat., Feb. 2 – 3, 2018

On Friday and Saturday the Portland Seafood & Wine Festival brings Dungeness crab, oysters, over 175 exhibitors (including over 50 Oregon wineries and craft beer vendors ), live music, and a kids’ sand sculpture area to Oregon Convention Center.

Puplandia Valentine’s Shopping Extravaganza

A doggie craft fair designed especially for your pooch, the Puplandia Valentine’s Shopping Extravaganza has 50 vendors selling art, soaps, toys, dog treats, baked goods, calendars and a puppy kissing booth at Oaks Park Dance Pavilion. Free.

Cascade Festival of African Films

In celebration of Black History Month the 28th Annual Cascade Festival of African Films shows us Africa through the eyes of Africans. Held at both the Hollywood Theatre and Portland Community College Cascade Campus this film festival is the longest running  annual, non-profit, non-commercial, largely volunteer-run African Film Festival in the United States. Free.

A daddy and daughter dance to raise money for Sherwood Old Town Rotarian causes,the third annual, semi-formal Princess Promenade includes dancing, music, snacks, face painting, at Sherwood Center for the Arts.
