Police Officers, Fire Fighters, EMTs and Search & Rescue team members were provided with essential estate planning documents yesterday when SKH shareholder Brad Miller and attorney Mercedes Rhoden-Feely participated in the Wills for Heroes program. The program was sponsored by the Multnmomah Bar Association, Young Lawyers Section and took place at Portland State University. Wills for Heroes is designed to provide first responders with four free essential legal documents including a Simple Will, Power of Attorney, Advance Directive, and HIPAA Release. The Wills for Heroes Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit that focuses on “protecting those who protect us.” Since November 2001, the Wills for Heroes program has provided more than 7,000 estate planning documents nationwide. This was Oregon’s first partnership with the well-established program.
