Last Saturday, Frederick Schroeder, associate attorney in our Bend office, and his son Byron participated in “Scouting for Food,” an annual national service project for Boy Scouts with Byron’s Cub Scout pack. In November and December of each year, Boy and Cub Scouts canvass their neighborhoods collecting donations of non-perishable food items. The food collected is then taken to an associated charter organization, for Byron’s pack that means the Bend Elks Club. The weekend before Christmas, the boys return to the Elks Lodge to sort the food they’ve collected into care boxes and any additional food is donated to local shelters.
