Share is an organization based in Vancouver, WA dedicated to leading the hungry and homeless to self-sufficiency by providing food, shelter, housing, education, advocacy and compassion through the strength of community.
“I want to contribute to the community I live and work in,” said Michelle, “In looking for an organization to donate my time and resources to, I found Share.”
Share envisions a community without hunger, where all people have safe and adequate housing and the skills to enhance their quality of life.
“I was impressed with how Share makes such big positive impact on Vancouver, WA community and knew that it was the team I wanted to be a part of,” said Michelle.
Share had its beginnings in 1979 when a group of caring people came together with the common goal of caring for the homeless and hungry in the Vancouver area.
The shelter and hot meals programs are the programs most people are familiar with, however there is so much more to Share than those essential programs, such as backpack program, food pantries in schools, the IDA program and more.
“The most impressive thing that I discovered,” noted Michelle, “is how amazing the Share caseworkers and outreach program are, likely due to both the hard work and dedication of employees and Share’s commitment to those employees.”
Michelle will attend her first board meeting later this month. She couldn’t be more thrilled for the opportunity.
“I am very excited to be a board director for Share,” said Michelle, “and look forward to a rewarding journey being a part of this wonderful organization.”
Congratulations, Michelle! We know you’ll do great things and Share is lucky to have you on the board of directors.
