Astoria Parks and Recreation – Coach Christopher

Astoria Parks and Recreation – Coach Christopher, an associate attorney at Stahancyk Kent & Hook‘s Astoria Office, currently coaches his son’s second grade basketball team, the North Coast Hoopsters. The Hoopersters play in a league sponsored by the Astoria Parks and Recreation Department and attend tournaments held in Portland. Chris says that the tournaments are challenging, but “[the players] keep trying hard and having fun.”
“Prior to becoming an attorney,” says Chris, “I had the opportunity to spend a few years as a high school basketball coach. Thus, when my children reached an age where they were able to participate in athletics, I wanted to be a part of that experience.” In addition to the Hoopsters, Chris has coached baseball, soccer, and basketball teams for his three sons. Chris’ favorite part of coaching is mentoring his players and being a positive influence: he says, “I strive to set a good example for all the children that I coach.”
