2015 Clark County Mock Trial Volunteer Coordinator

SK&H Managing Attorney Michelle Prosser has been named the Volunteer Coordinator for the Clark County Mock Trial, 2015. As Volunteer Coordinator, Michelle will locate and organize volunteer attorneys to serve as raters during the tournament and manage the volunteers at the Mock Trial event.

Mock Trials offer participants a great way to gain leadership and critical thinking experience, grow their public speaking skills, and gain valuable experience in team building. Local schools, community groups, and YMCAs all field teams at the Annual event.

This year, the case to be argued is “Whistle While you Work”: State v. Kefi Thomas. Inspired by the recent international debate concerning former NSA contractor Edward Snowden and his unauthorized release of classified files, this case concerns Kefi Thomas, a young computer technician who was given access to confidential police files. Now, Kefi faces charges of official misconduct and computer trespass but maintains his innocence and, indeed, argues his release of confidential files was necessary. Teams will play the roles of the defense and prosecution as this matter is taken to “court.”

This year’s Mock Trial will take place on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 and Thursday, February 19, 2015.
