Portland Farmers Markets

Of course, the Saturday PSU market, which is held on the South Park Blocks at Portland State University, is the most well-known market. It gets the biggest crowds and the most publicity. But every market has its own group of devotees.

2010 will offer a new market on Mondays at Pioneer Courthouse Square.

The Wednesday market at Shemanski Park is held downtown at the north end of the South Park Blocks between Salmon & Main. It is a market dominated by folks who work and live downtown. Many people stop by for lunch. It has a city feel.

Thursdays offer the Buckman market in the Buckman/Sunnyside neighborhood of Southeast Portland. This is a family-oriented neighborhood market where market shoppers spend as much time catching up on neighborhood news as they do buying produce. In 2010, Thursdays also will offer a new market on NW 23rd Street.  It will be open from 3PM – 7PM.  Perfect for people like me who don’t have time to go in the morning.

Sundays offer the King Market serving Portlanders living in the North and Northeast sections of our city.

The markets are open rain or shine, but may close without prior notice during extreme weather conditions in order to maintain the safety of shoppers and vendors.
