Students At Work in 2006

At Stahancyk, Kent, Johnson, & Hook we invest in both people and our community. One of the ways we do this is by offering promising young adults the opportunity to participate in our Student Intern Program.

The purpose of the student worker program is to enhance students both professionally and socially and prepare them for college and careers beyond. The program stresses the importance of proper etiquette, dress, manners and speech, and gives each student the necessary skills to achieve in a professional environment.

The SKJ&H internship is designed as a long-term internship, whereby each student who is offered a position as an incoming high school freshman is guaranteed a job during the summer and subsequent periods during the school year, until their graduation. We find this structure to be incredibly beneficial for the students as they are able to become mentors and leaders within the Internship program as they progress through the years.

This summer the students were for the most part project oriented. Each project was beneficial to our community and the SKJ&H offices. They served the local Portland Community through preparation of materials for the Lincoln High School Football team. They were able to aid the law firm through projects as diverse as creating inventive calendars for each employee to putting together intake materials and filing for our intake department.

While the Intern program is all about working hard, we like to have a little fun as well.  As a reward for hard work and a job well done we went on two firm sponsored trips - rafting on the Deschutes River and playing paintball in Portland.

We look forward to watching the growth of all our interns in the years to come.
