Law Office Cooking up a Home Away from Home

Congratulations to Stahancyk, Gearing, Rackner & Kent, P.C., the family law firm that moved into its new digs at Athena Plaza from its former location on the second floor of Jackson Tower.

Jody Stahancyk and her husband, John Crawford, partnered with Howard Hedinger of American Industries to buy the building earlier this year. R&H Construction worked its magic to renovate the three-story building in just six weeks, creating a decidedly un-stuffy atmosphere.

Now, high school students buzz around the office in neat polo shirts and khakis, watering plants, running errands and making things run smoothly. The smell of lunch cooking for the entire staff wafts out of the dinning room (the firm employs its own chef).

But the luxury of an in-house chef is in sharp contrast to the comfortable but certainly not opulent furnishing. Chubby couches, generous chairs and color everywhere suggest the creative energy of an advertising firm, not the luxury of a law firm.
