AM Northwest: How to Avoid the Pitfalls of Divorce
January 25, 2006

Jody Stahancyk, President and Senior Shareholder of SKJ&H was a featured guest on KATU's AM Northwest, about the topic "How to Avoid the Pitfalls of Divorce."

With the national divorce rate at 38% in 2005, if you don't experience a divorce, then it is likely that a child, a parent, or a friend will experience a divorce. Jody's main advise was to be prepared: know your finances, look to the long term, protect your mental and physical health, and maintain hope. It is also important to be fair and to behave with respect to yourself and your spouse. Above all, protect your children; remember that divorce is between yourself and your spouse.

Jody highlighted the 2006 Women of Strength; Women in Transition Conference that she will be presenting at this February. The conference is organized by the Samaritan Counseling Center and will be held at the First Methodist Church on SW 18th and Jefferson on February 11, 2006 from 8AM to 5PM. The keynote speakers include Mary Lou Hennrich, BSN, MS, The Reverent Danon Catherine Nichols, and Governor Barbara Roberts. Visit their website or contact SCC at (503)281-3318 for registration and more information.

Jody also highlighted Child Centered Solutions. Child Centered Solutions, or CCS, is a non-profit organization focused on the needs of children involved in the divorce process. Jody is currently on the Board of Directors for CCS. For more information, visit www.childcenteredsolutions.org
