Jody Stahancyk of Portland was honored Friday, May 11, at the 19th annual White Rose Luncheon, "A Salute to Women of Achievement," presented by R.B. Pamplin Corporation and Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon. The event was held
at the Benson Hotel in Portland.
The White Rose Honorees were selected on the basis of volunteerism, professional excellence, commitment to improving the status of women in the region, and contributions to the community as a whole. Five Oregonians were honored as 2001 White Rose Women of Achievement. Joining Stahancyk were Linda Gilleese of Hermiston, Mary K. Mark of Portland, Alice Rampton of Corvallis, and Sister Catherine Hellman of Bend.
Stahancyk works quietly behind the scenes improving the lives of Portland’s youth. As an attorney, Stahancyk provides free legal council for children in troubled circumstances in exchange for their participation in community service. Under Stahancyk’s direction, her law firm, Stahancyk, Gearing and Rackner, hires high school students who need work. She also helps them find scholarships for college.
