This is a great weekend to hit the road to plant a seedling, ride a pony, or even dig for potatoes at Oregon Ag Fest in Salem, enjoy crab and other incredible seafood near the coast Astoria Warrenton Crab, Seafood and Wine Festival or head to Mt. Hood for a horror film fest. In Portland, the Portland Thorns will be playing this weekend and in Vancouver you can check out the Spring Paddle Fest. Have fun!

Like a summer camp for horror fans, Overlook Film Festival showcases “new and classic independent horror cinema alongside the latest in interactive and live shows” including 20 feature films, 17 short films, and parties at Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood.


Spring Paddle Festival 

April 29 – 30, 2017

Attend classes and demonstrations both days of the Spring Paddle Festival at Vancouver Lake Regional Park. 20 minute clinics will be offered all day and include tips on car topping your kayak, basic canoeing, yoga for paddling, stand up paddling and safety tips for kayak fishing. Free.


Oregon Agricultural Festival

April 29 – 30, 2017

A two-day event, aimed to help families better understand where their food, fiber and flora come from, is a unique learning experience, where hands-on exhibits make learning about Oregon’s vast agricultural industry educational and entertaining. Experience life on the farm. Plant a seedling, ride a pony, watch chicks hatch, pet a rabbit, or even dig for potatoes at Oregon Ag Fest at the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem. Free parking and free to age 12. 


Astoria Warrenton Crab, Seafood and Wine Festival 

April 28 – 30, 2017

The communities of Astoria and Warrenton celebrate the bounty of the Pacific Ocean at the annual Astoria Warrenton Crab, Seafood and Wine Festival. This award-winning event features the authentic flavors of Oregon’s North Coast, as well as trend-setting artisan producers and Oregon-based wineries. The Astoria Warrenton Crab, Seafood & Wine Festival is located at the Clatsop County Fair & Expo Center on Highway 202 about 4 miles from the junction of Highway 101 in Astoria.  Children are free on Sunday.


Mt. Hood Rock Club Show 

April 28 – 30, 2017

Mt. Hood Rock Club Show features demonstrations, kids’ activities, and vendors selling rocks, minerals, fossils, and jewelry at Jackson Armory south of the Portland International Airport. Free admission. And one free rock to each child!
