Yesterday associate attorney Erica Strader and Linda Smith attended a luncheon held by the Kiwanis Club of Prineville featuring a talk from Jill Bauer of the Court Appointed Special Advocates. Bauer focused her talk on the needs of children in emergency situations and provided some ideas of how to address them. Erica is a member of Prineville Chapter of the the Kiwanis Club, a service organization dedicated to serving children and the community. The Kiwanis club believes that “no problem is too big or too small” and its members volunteer anywhere they believe they can make a difference. Founded in Detroit almost 100 years ago, the Kiwanis Club has grown and expanded to become a global organization. Members of the Kiwanis club have taken on a diverse range of projects, from building playgrounds and implementing reading initiatives in schools to disaster relief and elder care, from homeless shelters to helping women in developing nations safely give birth and raise their children. Each Kiwanis club is different, but the most important aspect is always the same: a dedication to helping the community better itself.
